Experience/Accomplishments
Alex was a registered IRCA Lead Assessor to ISO9000; Registered Quality Scotland/EFQM assessor; and Lead Assessor for the Quality Scotland Foundation Award since its inception in 1994; and Registered consultant for the MTTG programme run by North Ayrshire Council.
Independent Quality Management Consultant since January 1993. Worked with the Quality Scotland Foundation (QSF) since 1994 as a Lead Assessor for their annual Business Excellence Award, including the assessment of a variety of different manufacturing and public service companies. Worked with National Semiconductor (UK) and Solectron (Scotland) Ltd. to prepare their management systems for their corporate Quality Award Programmes. Prepared the submission of B-MAT Ltd for both the EFQM Award and the QSF Award in 1998. B-MAT was awarded a 'Highly Recommended' certificate by QSF in the SME category. Most recently worked with RAF Sleaford in setting up their EFQM Programme and with the Scottish Prison Service in leading their internal EFQM Assessment Programme.
Conducted Management Consultancy programmes in a wide range of companies in the UK, USA and Far East. These include work for National Semiconductor (UK), B-MAT, Solectron (Scotland), IBM Eastern Europe (Vienna), IBM USA at Fishkill (NY), San Jose (California), Houston (Texas), and Boca Raton (Florida). Through the sponsorship of Enterprise Ayrshire worked with small and medium manufacturing and service companies, including MAY-TAG (Education/Training), British Aerospace Flying College (Education/Training), Abbey Electronics (Electronics), European Monitors (Electronics), Alpha-Sigma (Electronics), Plastic Dip Mouldings (Plastics), McCrindle (Light Engineering), The Longford Press (Printing), RAF Sleasford, The Scottish Prison Service and others.
Working with Herald Management Systems, conducted Customer Satisfaction surveys for Bekaert (Glenrothes) in 1998 and 1999. Also conducted Employee Focus Groups and full Employee Satisfaction Surveys for Bekaert in 1998 and 1999.
Managed the ISO9000 registration programmes for IBM UK, and took the company through Company-Wide registration of all of IBM UK sites to BS5750 PART 1/ISO9001 and to TickIT. This registration covered 45 sites, with 17,500 employees. Worked in the field of Management Systems for a total of 15 years, including ISO9000, Software Quality Management, and Total Quality Management (TQM) Systems.
Alex has conducted ISO 9000 Assessor education on numerous occasions, training approximately 900 people in the UK, USA and various European countries.
