David Egan
David is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. He is our Occupational Health and Safety wizard, but also has vast experience in many avenues of business management.
His early career was in light engineering where he held various posts in product design and works management. This culminated in helping to set up a new facility in a development area where his brief was 'Get us into this business'. It was a great success and built up to 300 employees on a green field site.
This was followed by a few years with PA Management Consultants, mainly in helping a diverse range of Clients to improve productivity.
A return to Industry, as an internal consultant, concluded with responsibility for engineering and manufacturing of a major Division.
After this, there was a move to the oil industry. Notable assignments included:
- Project Manager for the team who produced all the documentation for Marathon Brae A; operating, training, safety and maintenance procedures
- Technical Training Co-ordinator for Brae B
- Safety Policy Advisor for BP Exploration Aberdeen operations
- Asset HSE Team Leader
More recently, David's activities have focused on providing support to SMEs in developing Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems and gaining OHSAS 18001 certification where appropriate.
