QUALITY ASSOCIATES(formerly Aberdeen Quality Associates Ltd) - Chairman - 1992 onwards

Gareth has provided consultancy work to various companies and has assisted companies in their endeavours to achieve certification to BS 5750/ISO 9000. He has also assisted companies during the change process towards continuous improvement and Total Quality, and provided a structured approach to problem solving.

Responsible to the Production Manager during movement into the North Sea Oil Business, with a special responsibility in the maintenance of Quality Assured Standards.

Compliance and Quality Assurance Superintendent.
  • Temporary post established during a period of reorganisation. Selected by the General Manager :and accountable to him for the company's compliance with Government statutes and BP's own standards. This was achieved against a very difficult background of ' cultural change " and a total restructuring of BP Exploration in the United Kingdom.
  • Established the principles of a structured approach to Business, Quality, and safety Management.
BPX
1988 - 1990
Quality Services Manager, Northern District.
Following the merger of BRITOIL with BPX, Gareth was selected to lead the Quality Services Team of the predominantly "Britoil " District of BPX. This encompassed the Beatrice, Clyde, Thistle, Buchan and Magnus Fields. During this period the Quality Function was revitalised and a team of 12 BP Staff supplemented by up to 90 contract staff were responsible for Plant Inspection, Quality Assurance, QC of new and refurbished materials, construction projects and plant modifications. The Department was also responsible for the onshore coordination of Inspection Tasks through Consultants, Contractors and Vendors Inspection Agencies. Annual Budget was of the order of £5 million
